Japan offers common application of its scientific-research scope to Ukrainian scholars

On September, 23, 2016, in Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute there took place the seminar “Research in/with Japan”, dedicated to the opportunities of Japanese scientific-research scope, open for involvement of Ukrainian participants, and to the development prospects of scientific-technical cooperation of our countries.

Japanese side, headed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine Mr. Shigeki Sumi, was represented by the delegation with the membership of the Head of Science-technical policy department of the Ministry of education, culture, sports,science and technology of Japan (MEXT) Hirotaka Yamada, the Head of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science department (JSPS) inBonn Dr. Keiichi Kodaira, the Head and professor of the Institute of radioactivity of the Fukushima University, Dr. Kenji Nanba, the professor of the Nanovision technology department of the Higher school of science and technology Dr. Toru Aoki and others.

From Ukrainian side participants were congratulated by the Deputy Minister of education and science of Ukraine MaksymStrikha and rector of NTUU “KPI” academician of NASU MykhailoZhurovsky.

Students, postgraduatestudents, scholarsofhighereducationalandscientificestablishmentsfrom most of Ukrainian regions, and also representatives of National science-technological association of Ukraine took part in the seminar.

Mr.Hirotaka Yamada presented the policy of the Ministry of education, culture, sports, science and technology of Japan on the programs of science-technical cooperation, their advantages and financing opportunities, creation of modern research centers, in particular, by such well-known Japanese organizations as JSPS and JST. Directions and results of common Japanese-Ukrainian scientific-research cooperation were presented by the specialists of leading Japanese universities in fields of physics, agriculture, energy, electrical engineering, and bioinformatics.

The Head of the International department of the National science-technological association of Ukraine SerhiiMaulik proposed a novel approach to the organization of science-technical and innovative cooperation between Ukraine and Japan. The Association’s standpoint is that the intensification of innovative processes and commercialization of scientific elaborations may be facilitated by putting the focus of scientific-organizational support on the fields which are strategically important and attractive for investing both for Ukraine and Japan. In addition, during the official visit of the President of Ukraine P. Poroshenko to Japan in April, 5-7, 2016, there were presented three strategically significant fields – organic food growing in Ukrainian black soil, transport infrastructure modernization for the development of Ukrainian transit potential and future energy.
